Helping Children and Their Parents’s Healthy

We were given a task to cover the launch of a new dental examination program on Sunday January 30, 2011. The program was offered free of charge to all.

We found that during the examinations the dentist did much more than simply pull teeth and fill cavities. At the introduction to the free examination day, he explained how to properly care for teeth. To the program participants, about 200 children and their parents he explained the correct way to brush teeth, so that the teeth and gums stay clean and healthy.

This dental program sponsored in part by Mr. Amin , and held at his home, which had a large yard able to accommodate so many. During our time at the seminar, we were able to interview several children. One child, Abi (Abby), said to us

"This dental examination is very nice for me to fix my teeth problems".

“ What are is your teeth problems Abi? ", we asked.

She responded “My tooth nearly fell
out during the exam , and finally the tooth was pulled out"

We next interviewed Jemer, who had a much different experience than Abi.

“Did you cry when you had your tooth pulled?” we asked him.

"Yes, I cried when my teeth were removed by the doctor" Jemer said. “But now my mouth doesn’t hurt like before.”

Ina was the next patient we were able to speak with.

“Ina, what did the dentist do for you and your teeth?” we asked.

''He filled by bad teeth with silver, and told me that I should not be eat foods that are very sweet or spicy,
or too cold. He said I should be very diligent about brushing my teeth two times every day.''

We met with many others as well, who shared similar good experiences. The program appeared to be
a great success, and was able to help many children.
